I see the big global banks are now queing up to join the scaremongering bandwagon of the fire and brimstone the UK faces were it to exit the EU forgetting of course that the EU has never demonstrated anything beyond tepid growth since the birth of the Euro, and these same banks were not exactly on the money when they were gambling on mortgage backed CDOs pre 2008

We export far more to non EU countries. We buy more from the E.U than we export to them. If you take into account the £50m we have to pay each day to be a member of this communist club, the bureacracy, red tape, waste, pc etc etc it doesn't take a great deal to work out we will be far better off. We also get back control of our borders and legal system! It's a no brainier really.. But unfortunately too many been brainwashed by the socialist political elite and there are too many Johnny foreigners here now!

Nailed on there will be a shed-load of those "statistics" presented in that exact form over the coming months.
Such spin needs to be ripped a new arse and exposed for what it is (in the hope that people will then actually see it for what it is and start asking relevant & awkward questions).

"Meanwhile half of British trade is with the EU, but only 11% of EU trade is with Britain."
This is rubbish. It's motivation is to mislead as it sounds like we export a lot more than we buy when we actually buy from Europe more than we sell.
So the whole of the EU sells 11% of its overseas trade to the UK. I'd say that was a huge amount for them to lose. And most of that will be northern European countries...

I agree Mike..be like a messy divorce at first, but time heals and everything works out fine for both in the long run and most of all, much happier.

THe EU and the "In grannies" are going to move into cornered rat mode with vengeance.
No matter what their arguments, the EU is a luxury the UK cannot afford at the moment. Nice ideals, but let those who want to see those ideals realised pay for them out of their own pockets (and try to claim back later).
Sort the UK out from within first - nobody knows better what the UK wants & needs than the UK (population) itself.
Once out, both sides can lick any wounds they pick up and move on.
One thing's for sure is that commercially there'll be no tit-for-tat bollocks.
Politically, well, I'm sure we all are aware that politicians are absolutely convinced they - and they alone - know best, so I expect a load of shit-stiring in that department, but, ultimately, commerce will tell them to shut-the-fuck-up and get on with life, like the rest of the country.

One must wonder if it is finally dawning on Europe's Political Elite that the UK might actually vote to leave.
Intimidation it is then........

No argument there. To a degree, UKIP have the luxury of being able to be honest able their policies. Naturally, this being the UK, they have to dissemble about the NHS (where their policy will inevitably come to pass) - same as everybody else does.

Too right surface, while economically sound it would be political madness to cut tax credits and the 45p at the same time.

To be fair A8, the Tories want it too, but haven't got the stones to mention it.

'France has invoked emergency powers to sweep aside EU deficit rules and retake control over its economy after the terrorist atrocities in Paris, pledging a massive in increase and security and defence spending whatever the cost.'
That's the blessed AEP in the Torygraph.
So that's France and Germany who don't qualify for Euro membership now along with all of Club Med. Just about the only country that does qualify is Finland and they want out.

Comma we are netured all of the time.
Heres a recent example. Labour proposed abolishing the vat on tampons and had an opposition day motion on it.
Guess what? You cant.
Why? Eu law
It's eu law to have vat on electricity and gas which means bills are higher for the poor than they could be.
And that's without the bigger stuff like the eu extracting two billion extra from us a year because our economy grew. Thats two billion that could be used to offset the tax credit changes.

Inftheus, you post about subjects with absolute certainty of being right and then you say, about reducing our deficit when out of the EU being "just as likely that Brexit will make it easier".
That is far below your usual standard of certainty. Why?

Old H and P never answers any well thought out opinions on here that differ from his own. Just some stupid statement about pomposity or similar vague condescending comment.

You do understand that if the EU tries to impose any kind of trade restriction on the UK then the UK will impose trade restrictions on the EU member countries in retaliation.
How about a 20% import tariff on German cars or French wine?
They can't afford a trade war with us and that's why they won't start one. It's called the principle of mutally assured destruction.
